Something’s clicked in my brain, and I’ve decided to start decorating the house.

To cut a long story short, my parents split up about 18 years ago, everyone fell into a deep depression, and I don’t think anyone loved being here anymore.

Any money that anyone ever had, which was never very much, went on anything but decorating the house.

A good few years ago now, I got so annoyed with this that I decided to decorate the living room, so I spend a good few hundred pounds and made it look nice again (even if I wouldn’t have chosen red as the colour, but my mam wanted it) but there is still so much to do.

I also managed to convert the bathroom into a “wet room” which is a walk in shower, because my mother now has mobility problems (she’s disabled after a back injury). I also managed to fix the roof that was leaking, get the path repaved, have the kitchen and my own bedroom ceilings replaced, and the garage repaired: my mother managed to get some new windows fitted, and I got the other ones done.

One of the problems has been indecision, no leader, too much procrastinating.

So, I just said to Chris a few days ago, “I’m going to do it, I’m going to see what can be done now, and I’m going to do it. I don’t want any thanks and I don’t care if anyone disagrees, I’m going to do it.”

I have a friend from Iran who wants to come and see me, I’m not feeling embarrassed about my house anymore. (I recently had friends from Italy here, and I was too ashamed to invite them in, this type of thing, kills your self esteem).

So I got up early, as I always do, made myself a cup of coffee, and got cracking with the work.

I did some sanding, some filling, and painted the ceiling, then the walls with an undercoat.

I managed to get one or two coats of paint on the walls, but I became a bit too tired to keep going, I was knackered after 7 hours.

I really didn’t think it would take that much work.

But anyway, you can see that it’s gone from shit tip, to looking nicer. It won’t take me too long to paint a few more coats and do the skirting boards.

I want a nice pretty, multi coloured glass lampshade, so pretty colours shine on the walls.

Afterwards, I decided to make myself a lovely chicken dinner (Chris had given me some chicken and mashed potato, and mini Yorkshire puddings).

I steamed some carrots, broccoli and cabbage (and put the mashed potato in the steamer too).

I made some gravy, put sliced onion in it, and the chicken. I ended up putting the Yorkies in too.

I made twice as much as I needed, really! But being the (confirmed) fat git that I am, I ate the lot!!

I was ruined, and I needed to lie down, so I did hahaha 😀

Got a session at 21:00 to 22:00.

I’d call that a great day.
